Spring Show 2026 Artistic Director // Incoming Studio Director

Louisa Marie Mann

Louisa began dancing at BSD at age three, when she tiptoed into her first Creative Movement class taught by Jane LoMonaco. Throughout high school, Louisa trained in Ballet, Modern, and Jazz under the guidance of Kathleen Keller, Alison Mott, Carrie Towle, Holly Johnson, Shannon McGough, and Kalya Yannatos. She continued her training during summers at Burklyn Ballet Theatre and The Rock School. After high school Louisa ventured to the midwest where she received a BFA in dance from the University of Missouri Kansas City.

In 2015, while living in New York City, she interned with Heidi Latsky Dance, a renowned modern dance company of disabled and non-disabled dancers. As a person with a disability herself, the sense of representation was powerful. Disability justice became a vital component of her artistic process and teaching practice. Louisa danced with Heidi Latsky Dance as a company member until 2021, and currently serves as the social media coordinator. She has collaborated with numerous disabled artists, including Ellice Patterson of Abilities Dance Boston and Mark Travis Rivera of Marked Dance Project. Her work has extended beyond performance into roles as rehearsal director, choreographer, teaching artist, and administrative assistant. In 2021, Louisa moved to Berkeley, California, where she toured internationally with AXIS Dance Company and taught ballet and creative movement for ages 2-12 at Shawl Anderson Dance Center and the Tutu School. After several years of performing as a guest artist for BSD’s Nutcracker and running summer dance camps, Louisa settled back in Vermont permanently in early 2025.

Louisa is passionate about making dance accessible for people of all abilities and is dedicated to fostering an environment where every dancer feels represented and empowered.
